Superbowl Sunny Day

With paperwork from the BLM finally in my hot little hands, I hoped into my truck and headed down to Steve and Janice's place bright and early this morning. Make that dreary and early, as it was wet, soggy and foggy. I managed to get out of the house a few minutes early, and you know I can't pass up a photo op, so I drove off the freeway (no, not literally) and into Conway to see what there might be to see.

All I can say is, don't blink or you might miss it. Here's Main Street...rush hour must be a real headache!

This is the US Post Office. I know it says Conway Foods, and maybe they do sell groceries there as well...I'm not sure as, contrary to what the sign said, the place was closed.

Need a job? I wouldn't recommend the Conway Fire Department...unless you need the truck!

Yup, Conway is definitely a one horse town...

I'd given myself an extra 20 minutes to make a quick stop along the way...now that I'd been in Conway, I still had 19 minutes and 32 seconds left. Needless to say, I showed up at Steve and Janice's a tad bit early! Which was okay, as I got to hang out and watch Janice ride a young Kiger mustang for a bit.

When one works with wild horses, one never knows what to expect. Generally, you ought to expect the worst, and hopefully you'll be surprised when it's not all that bad. Today, things didn't go all that bad...they actually went great! Sunny loaded up easier than a handful of 'trained and tame' domestic horses I've known in the past, which was especially heartening considering she really isn't halter broke!

Now, you may be taking a gander at this picture and noticing that Sunny is eyeballing the trailer, and you may notice the dog wandering about (which Sunny isn't bothered by.) And then you may notice that Steve is wearing two different shoes, and you may be saying to yourself, "What in tarnation? Dern fool..." And Steve would likely just chuckle and then tell you that he's recently had surgery. What you can't see in the photo is the brace he's wearing on his ankle. He needs to wear a tenny on that one foot as it fits easily over the brace. I thought you should know this, just in case you ever meet Steve and think him a bit odd because of all the photos I've been posting of him in non-matching shoes!

Here's Sunny poking her head out of the trailer and getting a good first look at her new home. If you'd like to read more about Sunny and her experiences today, just hop on over to the Mustang Diaries!

Love the pics. I'm addicted to driving through little towns like Conway, myself. Always interesting to see--love to look at their old buildings.

At least the fire department is honest!

Hey, don't talk about my town like that!! It is very busy on the week days. MB

LOL, MB! I kept thinking there must be something more around a corner somewhere... It's seriously an adorable little town; and as it was Sunday morning, the church was full.

I love small towns; just wish I'd had enough gas in my tank to go exploring during those other 19 minutes! Perhaps next time...
